From June 14 to 19, in the industrial zone of Prishtina, the “Natyra 2012” Fair was held, bringing together around 100 participating companies, including IFJB Lesna.
During the fair, it was announced that the wood processing sector in Kosovo had reached a total value of €80 million, making it one of the most successful industries in the country.
The promotion of the wood processing industry is now expanding beyond national borders. To further support the promotion of the manufacturing industry — which includes the wood processing sector — the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development is establishing a Marketing Division within the Agency for Payments.
According to Minister Blerand Stavileci, the wood processing industry is well developed, and local producers possess strong potential for export and competitiveness in regional and international markets.
The Director of USAID Kosovo, Maureen A. Shauket, highlighted the impressive growth of the sector, noting that “in 2009, the value of the wood processing industry stood at €40 million, whereas today it has surpassed €80 million, representing an extraordinary success.”
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Wood Processors Association, Mr. Hashim Deshishku, emphasized that domestic wood producers have not only increased production capacity but are also successfully penetrating regional markets, further strengthening Kosovo’s position in this vital industry.
